Top 8 Moments – First Month in Sevilla, Spain
I’ve officially been in Spain for over one month! Here are my favorite moments and the memories that come along with them!
01
Plaza de España
The Plaza de España is a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa that was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. The beautiful plaza is perfect for a mid day walk and pictures. You can even ride in a horse drawn carriage and admire the beauty.
02
Cooking Class
Cooking classes have always been something I enjoy, but cooking paella in the heart of the Triana Market is truly a must. Of course we made paella, but we also made gazpacho, a refreshing cold dish of blended vegetables.
03
Late Night City Walks
Walking around the majestic streets of Sevilla at night is one of my fondest memories of this first month. My friends and I take the bus back to our pueblo at 10 pm, so we have a few hours of darkness to enjoy. Walking alongside the river, singing Taylor Swift, and taking blurry night pictures will never get old.
04
River
The Guadalquivir River is an always flowing, calming, and beautiful river. Sitting alongside the river people watching is my favorite. I also love a good coloring session by the river.
05
Cadíz
I went to Cadíz for a day over the weekend and although you would imagine needing more time, one day was perfect. I started with a walking tour of the city where we went to the Cathedral, Roman Theatre, and overlooks of the water. Then, I swam in the cold Atlantic water which was surprisingly refreshing.
06
Conil de la Frontera
My host family has a “piso” in Conil and it made for the perfect weekend of relaxation and rest. There are plenty of restaurants, shops, and long stretches of sand. Lots of picture opportunities too, as it is one of the white pueblos in Spain, meaning all buildings are painted white. The white contrast to the blue waters is so pretty!
07
Language Classes
Although language classes might not seem like the most exciting thing to do, they are truly beneficial because you learn real world phrases. My teacher, Luis, made sure to keep me up to date on the slang of my high school.
08
Vejer de la Frontera
While in Conil, my family took me to Vejer, just a car ride away. The beautiful overlooks of the city and castle made up for the extremely steep hills. Lots of walking up and down hills, but a really gorgeous city.
