Excerpt from June 16, 2017 Journal – Germany bike tour

As much fun as I had previously, I was excited for today. We were going on a bike tour with Mike’s Bikes Tours all throughout Munich, Germany. We were definitely going to wear ourselves out with a long 7 hour ride. In total, we ended up riding 20 miles. When we first got the bikes, I was given a huge cruiser bike that was as big as me. I was certain I would need the kids bike. The guide let me use the kid bike and I was very happy.

We stopped at many historic places and beer gardens. My dad enjoyed the beer especially. During the ride, my favorite place we stopped was the Olympic Park. It was so cool to see the Olympic stadium and Olympic village. We also stopped to see the BMW Welt, where many cool cars were on display.

I also enjoyed visiting the Summer Palace at Nymphenburg Palace. It was a mansion that stretched 1/2 of a mile. My mom did lots of research of the Palace and wanted to see the museum of old carriages. I loved seeing all of the gold detailing and elaborate stonework. While at the Palace, we did an audio guide of parts of the inside. We saw amazing paintings of beautiful people and places.

Additionally on the bike tour, my mom was the hero of the day and rode at the back the whole time. This is how she got the nickname “Butt Babe.” We will forever laugh at her for this. Also, I was surprisingly not too sore after the ride. Later in the day we got food and slept the night away. My parents also got a beer at the famous Hofbrauhaus which was out of our hotel window.
