Today was a very exciting day for me! I got to compete in an international competition for gymnastics… in Spain. I got a perfect score and had a lot of fun. We woke up bright and early to do my hair. Once we put it up in a tight bun, I had breakfast and put on my leo. I got to wear a bright pink and sparkly leo from the gym in Spain. I was so excited to compete my newly changed routines for the first time. I was nervous because the competition would be in Spanish, but in the end I figured it out. When we got there, I went with my friends to a back locker room while we waited. We then warmed up on the floor and went to our first event, mine was bars. They announced everyone’s name and which gym they were from. I had a rocky warm up but competed without too many errors. I got a 9.25 on bars. I was proud of the score because it was my first time doing that routine. Beam was next. I fell twice and got the worst score ever. I got a 2.6. My routine did not have the same elements as Spain, therefore, my start value was a lot lower than others. Vault was next, where I got a perfect 10! I was super excited when I found out later. The scores were hard to know when it showed yours because they were manually changed. Also, they didn’t show it right after you went. Floor was by far my favorite event to compete in. I love dancing and having music to dance to. I got to add harder elements, which made my start value higher than it would have been at home. I didn’t have all of the skills that Spain required, but I was still proud to go out and compete. Overall, I enjoyed competing with my friends and having fun while doing it.
