Takeshita street in Harajuku, Japan is by far one of the highlights of my trip. Located roughly between Shinjuju and Shibuya, Harajuku has tons of food stands, shops, fashion, pet cafes, and a whirlwind of people. It was one of the busiest places we visited while staying in Tokyo, as it definitely is a must see.
It really is a food goers paradise – crepe stands, enormous rainbow cotton candy, the best Mexican food, it is all there. My favorite cotton candy is from Totti’s Candy Factory and is located in the heart of Harajuku. Walk down the busiest street in Harajuku, and there it is – the huge rainbow cotton candy. It is perfect for pictures and was so fun to watch it be made right in front of us! Near the end of the street is the best Mexican food in Japan!
The animal cafes were also so much fun. Right on the corner of Takeshita street is a great cat cafe. It is upstairs and the windows look out to the entrance of the busy street. Further down the road are dozens more animal cafes. Hedgehogs, owls, mameshiba dogs, hamsters, ferrets, meerkats, and bunnies, you name it… it is there. My brother and I had an amazing time holding and playing with these animals. I definitely recommend going to these animal cafes all down Takeshita street and throughout Japan!
